As the academic year draws to a close, the Startup Studio Networking Night at Northbridge International School Cambodia (NISC) marked a powerful milestone for our Grade 9 students as they completed the Learn to Start program. This signature Northbridge initiative empowers students to build the adaptability, creativity, and critical thinking skills required to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving global economy, in short, to become truly market-ready learners.

What Does It Mean to Be Market-Ready?

At Northbridge, we believe education must extend beyond traditional career pathways. While career readiness focuses on preparing students for specific professions, market readiness prepares them for a world of constant change. It equips students with the agility to recognise emerging opportunities, innovate solutions, and continuously upskill throughout their lives.

Through the Startup Studio, students develop essential future-ready competencies, including:

  • Critical and creative thinking
  • Entrepreneurial problem-solving
  • Effective collaboration and communication
  • Adaptability in dynamic, real-world contexts

This approach reflects Northbridge’s commitment to nurturing globally minded students who are prepared not just for their first job, but for a lifetime of impact.

Real-World Learning Through Entrepreneurship

Throughout the year, students worked independently and in teams to explore startup opportunities, business innovation, and social impact initiatives. From identifying gaps in emerging markets to designing solutions for community challenges, each project was rooted in authentic, real-world relevance.

Guided by research, mentorship, and exposure to industry trends, students:

  • Investigated market needs and consumer behaviour
  • Validated and refined entrepreneurial ideas
  • Built viable, purpose-driven solutions
  • Developed confidence in presenting and defending their concepts

The result is a learning experience that mirrors the realities of today’s entrepreneurial and professional environments.

Showcasing Innovation: Startup Studio Networking Night

The Networking Night provided students with a platform to present their ventures to an audience of parents, educators, and members of the local Phnom Penh business community. The event celebrated not only student achievement but also the power of experiential learning.

Students demonstrated impressive professionalism and confidence as they:

  • Delivered startup pitches
  • Engaged in meaningful discussions with guests
  • Articulated the vision and impact of their projects

Several teams stood out for their initiative and enthusiasm, embodying the Northbridge spirit of innovation and leadership.

Preparing Students for an Unpredictable Future

The evening highlighted a core belief at Northbridge: the future belongs to learners who can think, adapt, and lead in uncertainty. By integrating entrepreneurship, creativity, and real-world application into the curriculum, the Startup Studio prepares students to navigate and shape an ever-changing world.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to welcome the next cohort of Grade 9 students as they begin their entrepreneurial journey in the Startup Studio. With each cycle, we continue to strengthen our mission: to develop confident, capable, and market-ready graduates who are ready to make a meaningful difference, both locally and globally.
