HUNGARIAN THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL
The Hungarian Programme develops progressively throughout a student’s education at BISB, building strong language and literacy skills from Primary through to advanced study in the IB Diploma Programme.
In the IB Diploma Programme, students have the opportunity to study Hungarian as their Language A option. They explore significant works of Hungarian and world literature while developing advanced skills in literary analysis, communication and critical thinking.
The IB Hungarian Language A qualification is equivalent to the advanced-level Hungarian Literature school-leaving examination (emelt szintű érettségi) within the Hungarian education system. It can also contribute towards achieving a bilingual IB Diploma, giving students the opportunity to achieve an advanced level of Hungarian while gaining an internationally recognised qualification and keeping university options open in Hungary and around the world.
The programme provides a clear progression in Hungarian language and literature from Primary through to the IB Diploma. Students can continue to develop their Hungarian skills at an advanced level while benefiting from the breadth of an international education and preparing for their next steps.
