At Dover Court International School, we encourage our students to take initiative, show resilience, and strive to do their best. The Duke of Edinburgh International Award (DofE) is a global framework that takes learning and personal development outside the classroom. It is designed to challenge young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements, and make a positive difference in the world around them. The award encourages young people to discover their purpose, passion and place in an ever-changing world.
This award qualification is an outstanding ‘student led’ scheme to help students to develop independence, self-motivation, commitment and team-working skills. Sometimes they will do things outside of their comfort zone, but always after guidance and support from our own trained supervisors.
At Dover Court, students begin their DofE journey with the Bronze Award in Year 9 and continue with the Silver Award in Year 11, gaining valuable experiences that build confidence, resilience and a sense of community.
The Bronze and Silver Award includes four compulsory sections:
- Physical recreation promotes improvement of health, fitness and wellbeing
- Skills to encourage development of personal interests and creativity
- Community Service enables to experience the benefits of volunteering
- Adventurous Journey (AJ) encouraging a sense of adventure and discovery
